John Corabi stated he’d been instructed that Motley Crue would have fired any singer who wasn’t Vince Neil in 1994 – even when it had been Paul McCartney.
Corabi was proven the door after recording only one album with Nikki Sixx’s band, in order that the previously-fired Neil may return. In a current episode of the SDR Present (video under) the vocalist recalled band supervisor Allen Kovac’s phrases.
“There was a gathering at Nikki’s home, and Allen Kovac, the supervisor, got here in and he was very frank,” Corabi stated. “He goes, ‘Hear, man, I don’t give a shit who’s fronting this band…’ A 12 months earlier than I joined, that they had simply signed a large file cope with Elektra for like $40, 50 million assured cash. And, after which, like six months later, Motley calls Elektra… ‘Oh, yeah, hey, by the way in which, the singer’s out.’ And so they’re like, ‘Uh, not what we paid for!’”
The dispute with the label was one motive why Motley Crue weren’t “large supporters” of Corabi, he stated, though he added that “they have been all the time cool to me.” He continued: “And so Allen got here to me and he stated, ‘Right here’s the deal, dude. No disrespect to you, however this isn’t what the file label paid for.’
“His phrases have been, ‘I do not give a fuck if Paul McCartney was fronting this band – It is not what they paid for. They need Vince Neil, or they’re doing nothing.’ I understood that. And, , that was that.”
Corabi goals to supply extra element in his memoir Horseshoes and Hand Grenades: Tales from the Different Motley Crue Frontman, which is revealed through Uncommon Fowl on June 14.
