MEXICO CITY, July 2 (Reuters) – Mexico’s setting ministry mentioned on Friday it rejected a key environmental allow for a solar energy plant that German automaker Audi has proposed to construct at its manufacturing unit within the central Mexican state of Puebla.
Audi’s proposed environmental influence assertion for the photovoltaic energy plant, despatched to officers in late Could, was denied as a result of it requires a regional evaluation given extra electrical infrastructure that might be wanted, the ministry mentioned in a quick assertion.
“From their preliminary conception, a lot of these initiatives require the institution of an influence station, an electrical substation and inside transmission traces,” it mentioned.

The ministry added it’s going to consider any new environmental influence assertion for the photo voltaic plant that Audi submits.
Audi is a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG (VOWG_p.DE).
Audi Mexico mentioned the photo voltaic panels it hoped to construct have been supposed for self-consumption solely and can be used “solely to hold out a part of the facility consumption that allow the worldwide manufacturing of the Audi Q5.”
“Audi Mexico is extremely respectful of all authorized necessities within the nation, so it is cross-checking the authorization of the already present transmission station with the supply of the extra documentation requested by the competent authorities,” the corporate instructed Reuters in an announcement on Saturday.
