VERSAILLES, Dec 6 (Reuters) – Apollo’s Chariot Fountain was lifted from its base within the luxurious gardens of the Palace of Versailles on Tuesday forward of an 18-month restoration of the gilded lead sculpture celebrating the Greek god.
It’s the first time the enduring art work by Jean-Baptiste Tuby has been faraway from its basin because it was positioned there in 1671 through the reign of Louis XIV, also called the Solar King.
Till now, restoration work had been restricted to its floor.
