Canada challenges U.S. softwood lumber duties under USMCA trade pact

OTTAWA, Aug 29 (Reuters) – The Canadian authorities stated on Monday it challenged U.S. softwood lumber duties underneath the United States-Mexico-Canada Settlement (USMCA), calling the duties “unwarranted” and “unfair.”

“Immediately, Canada filed discover that it’s going to problem, underneath Chapter 10 of the Canada-United States-Mexico Settlement (CUSMA), the ultimate outcomes of the U.S. Division of Commerce’s third administrative critiques of its anti-dumping and countervailing obligation orders on softwood lumber from Canada,” the Canadian authorities stated in a press release.
