LOS ANGELES, April 3 (Reuters) – Walt Disney Co (DIS.N) is growing a live-action model of its animated film hit “Moana,” star Dwayne Johnson introduced on the firm’s annual shareholder assembly on Monday.
“Moana” is ready in historical Polynesia and tells the story of a teenage lady who units sail on an epic journey to assist save her tribe.
The animated model was launched in 2016 and racked up almost $683 million at international field workplaces.
“I’m deeply humbled and overcome with gratitude to deliver the gorgeous story of Moana to the live-action huge display,” stated Johnson, who voiced the position of the demigod Maui within the unique movie.
“This story is my tradition, and this story is emblematic of our individuals’s grace and warrior energy,” stated Johnson, whose mom is Samoan.
The actor stated the brand new film was within the early phases of improvement. No launch date was introduced.
