ABIDJAN, Nov 15 (Reuters) – Kids at main colleges in Abidjan traded lecture rooms for soccer fields final week to participate in a FIFA initiative to make the game extra accessible and contribute to training.
Ivory Coast is the primary nation in West Africa and the fifth on the continent to hitch FIFA’s “Soccer for Faculties” (F4S) programme, launched in 2019 with pilot initiatives in Puerto Rico and Lebanon.
Kids in yellow bibs and white jerseys practised passes and dribbled between cones beneath the steerage of FIFA instructors.
“After they play on soccer fields they banish violence, construct management (expertise) and talk with others,” F4S supervisor Fatimata Sow stated in Abidjan.
The programme is run in collaboration with the United Nations and goals to contribute to the education of round 700 million kids by combining sports activities and training.
“The workshops… join soccer with training. Life, soccer and technical expertise are taught in a session,” stated F4S teacher Antonio Buenano.
