Firefighters on Saturday battled two wildfires in Colorado, the Excessive Park fireplace in Teller County and the Ute Cross fireplace close to Durango. The distant fires began Friday, and each concerned evacuations.

Excessive Park fireplace
The Excessive Park fireplace has burned greater than 1,000 acres and is 10% contained, fireplace officers stated. Firefighters on Saturday carried out water and retardant drops on the fireplace from the air, in help of floor crews.
The wind-driven fireplace is burning by ponderosa pine and grass on a ridge with Excessive Park Street to the west and steep, rocky terrain with dense fuels alongside Fourmile Creek to the east, in line with the fireplace command.

A big air tanker and two helicopters labored on the fireplace Friday. The helicopters continued drops on Saturday, and the air tanker was on standby. The reason for the fireplace is underneath investigation. The Durango Interagency Sort 3 Crew is managing the fireplace.
Grass fireplace in Colorado Springs
Firefighters with the Colorado Springs Hearth Division doused a grass fireplace on Saturday close to the Colorado Springs Airport. The hearth burned about 5 acres and a number of other roads across the airport briefly closed.

Firefighters stated the grass fireplace was knocked down at 3:31 p.m., lower than an hour after crews responded. Firefighters remained on scene “mopping up scorching spots” and patrolling the world. The trigger is underneath investigation.
