British police arrested a person armed with a knife who confronted two Ministry of Defence law enforcement officials close to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s official residence in central London on Monday.
Police cordoned off Whitehall, which is residence to a number of authorities departments together with the International Workplace and Ministry of Defence and results in Johnson’s Downing Road workplace and residence, for a number of hours however it was later reopened.
An investigation was launched following the incident at Horse Guards Parade, a ceremonial parade floor which overlooks St James’s Park, police stated.
“At round 08:50hrs, a 29-year-old man, who was armed with a knife, confronted two Ministry of Defence Cops. Taser was deployed and the person was restrained by officers. There have been no stories of any accidents,” London’s Metropolitan Police stated in a press release.
“He was arrested on suspicion of tried homicide and possession of an offensive weapon and stays in custody at a central London police station. The incident will not be being handled as terror-related.”
