VATICAN CITY, Dec 7 (Reuters) – Oscar-winning Italian comedian and actor Roberto Benigni introduced a little bit of his trademark whacky levity to the Vatican on Wednesday, hamming it up for Pope Francis.
Benigni had a personal assembly with the pope earlier than his weekly basic viewers and there have been laughs throughout.
When Benigni cracked that the pope was “lucent … emanating gentle”, the pope responded, “Do not exaggerate!”
Benigni repiled, “I’ve to magnify, I am pleased to be right here”.
The comic met the pontiff to offer him a set of DVDs of his new present on the lifetime of St. Francis of Assisi, titled “Francis, the Canticle”, which is being streamed on the Paramount Plus service.
In addition to his comedian works, Benigni, whose movie “Life is Lovely” gained three Oscars in 1999, has additionally performed exhibits on Italian epic poet Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy.
