March 27 (Reuters) – The organizer of the Oscars ceremony on Sunday tweeted that it doesn’t condone violence following an incident wherein actor Will Smith slapped presenter Chris Rock within the face on stage in the course of the reside broadcast.
“The Academy doesn’t condone violence of any kind,” the Academy of Movement Image Arts and Sciences tweeted following the ceremony.
“Tonight we’re delighted to rejoice our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this second of recognition from their friends and film lovers around the globe.”
