Pink Scorching Chili Peppers formally launched their reunion tour with John Frusciante on Saturday, June 4 in Seville, Spain.
Based on Setlist.fm, the 18-song set pulled closely from their two most up-to-date LPs with Frusciante, the 2006 double-album Stadium Arcadium and April’s Limitless Love. The quartet performed 4 cuts from the previous (“Charlie,” “Snow (Hey Oh),” “Hey” and “Inform Me Child”) and 5 from the latter (“Black Summer time,” “Aquatic Mouth Dance,” “Whatchu Thinkin’,” “Right here Ever After” and “These Are the Methods”).
The set’s different half included an intro jam, a pair of tunes from 2002’s By the Manner (“Can’t Cease” and the title monitor), two from 1999’s Californication (“Scar Tissue” and the title monitor), one from 1989’s Mom’s Milk (“No one Bizarre Like Me”), two from 1991’s Blood Sugar Intercourse Magik (“Give It Away” and “Underneath the Bridge”) and the 1991 B-side/1993 single “Soul to Squeeze.” Additionally they performed a tease of Jimi Hendrix’s “Hey Joe.”
You may see fan-shot clips from the present under.
They staged the gig over a month after their headlining look on the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Competition, throughout which they honored late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith performed the present with “Taylor” emblazoned on his package and at one level inspired the gang to chant “We love Taylor!” in unison.
Pink Scorching Chili Peppers’ world tour continues June 7 in Barcelona, Spain. It hits North America later in the summertime, beginning July 23 in Denver and wrapping Sept. 18 in Arlington, Texas.
