NEW YORK, Feb 11 (Reuters) – Prabal Gurung’s pilgrimage to his homeland, Nepal, helped the New York-based designer create a private assortment for Fall/Winter 2023.
Debuting his new line at New York Vogue Week on Friday, Gurung stated a visit residence helped join him to his roots.
“I wished to return residence to Nepal just because, you already know, that is the place my non secular connection and reconnection is,” Gurung advised Reuters.
After attending a 10-day silent retreat on the suggestion of his mom, Gurung wished to recreate the starlit nights he skilled there for his runway present.
“Even when I may give them 15, 20 minutes of that, what I felt, form of escape. They usually are available right here, they really feel like they are not in New York. And I wished to create that house,” Gurung stated.
The gathering featured outsized shoulders, crop tops and plenty of elaborations, along with Gurung’s signature juxtaposition of draping and tailoring.
Celebrities together with Kimora Lee Simmons and her daughters, in addition to singer Becky G and the designer’s mates who name themselves the “slaysians” have been in attendance.
