LONDON, Feb 15 (Reuters) – Music star Sting might be honoured at this 12 months’s Ivors, the annual awards honouring songwriters and display screen composers, receiving an Ivors Academy fellowship, organisers stated on Wednesday.
The award is the best honour bestowed by the UK-based Ivors Academy to these “who’ve actually reshaped and redefined the artwork and craft of music creation”.
Sting, who has already received seven Ivor Novello awards together with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002, will turn out to be the Academy’s twenty third Fellow, becoming a member of the likes of Elton John, Paul McCartney, Kate Bush and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Peter Gabriel obtained the award final 12 months.
“Of all of the awards on the planet of music, The Ivors are for me, essentially the most prestigious. Songwriting is a talented craft and The Ivors Academy are its guild,” Sting, 71, stated in a press release.
“I’m delighted and honoured to be provided this Fellowship of the Academy, becoming a member of and acknowledging this extraordinary group of fellow songwriters, and all of those that went earlier than us.”

The “Each Breath You Take” author and singer, who has offered greater than 100 million albums from his time with rock band The Police and as a solo artist, might be honoured at this 12 months’s awards ceremony on Might 18, the Ivors Academy stated.
To mark the announcement, the awards’ new sponsor Amazon Music launched a demo of Sting’s tune “If It’s Love” from his album “The Bridge”, which was launched in 2021.
Named after the early twentieth century Welsh composer, actor and entertainer Ivor Novello, the Ivor Awards had been first handed out in 1956. This 12 months’s nominees might be introduced in April.
