A Florida sheriff’s deputy ran over a girl who was sunbathing at St. Pete Seashore on Wednesday afternoon, based on a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Workplace.
Previous to the crash, authorities mentioned that deputy Todd Brien’s car was in a parked place as he spoke to pedestrians on the seaside earlier than being dispatched to analyze a 911 hang-up name at a distinct location.
Deputy Brien, 58, who was driving a 2017 “totally marked” Chevrolet Tahoe, “made a proper flip” as he left to reply to the decision, inflicting him to drive over a 23-year-old lady “whereas she was mendacity on her again within the sand,” the sheriff’s workplace mentioned.
The sunbather was recognized as Robin Diffenderfer.
“Based on investigators, the entrance driver aspect tire of the Tahoe drove over Diffenderfer’s proper aspect and mid to higher again space,” authorities wrote.
The sheriff’s workplace mentioned Diffenderfer sustained “non-life threatening accidents” and was transported to the hospital for remedy.
Brien, who has been with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Workplace for almost a decade, was not injured within the incident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
