Sure performed an intimate warm-up present final night time in Tavistock, England, forward of their Near the Edge Fiftieth anniversary tour. The gig, staged on the 400-capacity Tavistock Wharf, reportedly adopted per week of manufacturing rehearsals on the venue.
In keeping with Setlist.fm, the prog-rock band opened with “On the Silent Wings of Freedom,” a spotlight from their divisive 1978 LP, Tormato. Six different tunes have been pulled from their early repertoire: a canopy of Richie Havens’ “No Alternative Mandatory, No Expertise Wanted” (1970’s Time and a Phrase), “Coronary heart of the Dawn” (1971’s Fragile), “Yours Is No Shame” and the Steve Howe solo acoustic guitar piece “Clap” (1971’s The Sure Album), “Wonderous Tales” (1977’s Going for the One) and “Does It Actually Occur?” (1980’s Drama).

Between these classics have been the stay debuts of “The Ice Bridge” and “Dare to Know,” two tracks from their newest studio album, 2021’s The Quest. Following the primary set, the band performed all of 1972’s Near the Edge (the epic title observe, “And You and I” and “Siberian Khatru”) and returned for a two-song encore of 1971’s “Roundabout” and “Starship Trooper.”

The lineup featured Howe, keyboardist Geoff Downes, bassist Billy Sherwood, singer-guitarist Jon Davison and drummer Jay Schellen. The latter beforehand served as a stay help drummer alongside veteran member Alan White, however Schellen has now taken over the principle place following White’s demise final month.
Sure’ Near the Edge tour will proceed on June 15 in Glasgow and, as of this writing, conclude on Sept. 9 in Nagoya, Japan. In the meantime, former singer Jon Anderson will rejoice the album with a Fiftieth-anniversary tour, a North American run launching July 7 in Plymouth, N.H.
